The Last Refuge Foundation, presided over by one Rebecca Halston-Burke...

By the morning, one particular item of mail addressed to the woman would seem to stand out from all the rest. Not because of size, for it was merely a letter, yet there would appear something oddly magnetic about the contents. A subtle need for it to be opened and then read.

White paper, much like any other, would slip from the envelope and into waiting hands. The message, though, written in the most elegant of handwriting, requesting an audience with a view to volunteering funds for this noble endeavour and it would be found to be signed by Erato Lamiae, of the Lamiae Trust.

Strangely, there would be no telephone number, postal address or any other contact details. Merely a promise to be in touch at "the appointed time", so as to discuss further details.

An appointment which Rebecca would, of course, have no recollection of making and yet, once glancing through her schedule, would see had somehow been pre-arranged.

Coincidences could be most perplexing things.

Most perplexing things, indeed.
